Ohio
There is a lot to see and plenty of rides to be had in Ohio. You have the Great Lakes to the north, Chicago, Cleveland, and Columbus. Ohio has plenty of historic towns to visit and some nice museums within them. 
Visit in the warmer months, as it gets cold and snow covered in the winter.
